The Master INNOVATION CENTRERED DESIGN focused on people looks at professionals, from anywhere in the world and from any professional sector, who wants to train in new methodologies to carry out projects with a high degree of uncertainty. We selected 16 students every annual edition to work on the challenges proposed by the sponsors. Over 18 weeks the course go on, the students drives their learning journey though the development of these real Projects, swinging from Theory and practice, developing a team Project and applying every learning.
“Take part driving the New Master”
Throughout the master students follow the main line of h2i: creativity. This process is experienced from two viewpoints. The first is a methodology based on the application of creative problem solving (Creative Problem Solving) following Dr. Min Basadur. The second view is related to the stimulation of creativity through body movements, detecting mental blocks and momentum of personal skills.
Through the application of research techniques, participants learn to listen to others, to estrange themselves and to build constructions of reality. This part of investigation for design (Design research), consists of a dual approach: the generative social research which comprises disciplines as ethnography, social psychology or micro-sociology. And next to it, it is the Participatory research or co-creation whose great advantage is that let´s create artifacts to made tangible the users problems solving.
Once generated an understanding of the problem to be solved, based on the research findings, the best design decisions should be assumed, identifying the contexts in which add value.
In these areas sketches are designed and artifacts are built which allow a wider comprehension of the idea and a solution approach. The areas of Strategic Design, Prototyping and Service Design provide tools to define the proposals. Through these constructions, teams can determine the direction of its iterations, identifying areas for improvement. In addition, models and artefacts build helps to generate ideas, dismissing the prejudice that innovation is a linear process. The aim is to create a final proposal properly defined to start working on technical and economic feasibility.
Learning how to evaluate the viability of the idea and plan strategies for its development and market release. The idea is completed building its business model and implementation, providing a reflection on the value generated and the costs associated to the designed proposals. In this last part of the process, solutions are treated from the business design discipline using empathy maps, Business Model Canvas and creating value propositions with the needs detected on the research phase as its core idea. Validation of the proposal models experimentally it is essential to reduce uncertainty and deliver meaningful proposals and potential for success in the market.
